Spring Crafts for Kids
Ahhh....Spring! New life springing up everywhere. Welcome to my Spring Crafts for Kids section. Here you'll find easy spring crafts for kids that help capture the feeling of spring.
Craft Supplies needed:
long plastic straw or dowling stick 1 1/2 feet long
pin with large head
Cut a square of paper. Draw lines using a ruler, from corner to corner. Cut halfway along each line. Fold alternate corners into the middle. Overlap the points. Pin them to the straw or stick, with the bead behind them. This will help the pinwheel spin. Younger preschool kids will need more help with this craft.
Flower Button Jar
This may be used to hold any number of small items.
baby food jar
paint or window markers
quick setting glue
Glue several buttons on the outside of the jar to represent flowers. Hold the buttons in place until the glue is set. Paint stems and leaves on to the jar for the flowers. Add any other decorations you may want.
Large paper plate
markers or crayons
5 or 6 different colored streamers
Cut paper plate in half and then cut off the rim of the plate. Color arches on the plate to resemble a rainbow. Tape 12 inch lengths of different colored streamers to the cut side of the plate. Take the rainbows outside and let the colors blow in the wind. Kids also love to dance to music with these.
Craft Supplies needed:
Bubble wrap(small bubbles preferably)
light blue paint
cotton balls for clouds
Optional:other colored paints for adding scenery
Spread out a section of bubble wrap with slightly over half of the bubbles popped. Cover the bubbles with a thin coat of light blue paint. Place a piece of light blue construction paper over the bubbles and rub gently. Remove paper and let dry. Spread some cotton balls out a bit and glue on paper for clouds.
Art and Craft Supplies Needed:
3 different colors of craft foam sheets
1 green craft foam sheet
colored ribbon of your choice
1. Draw and cut out flowers from 2 of the colored foam sheets. Draw and cut out leaf shapes from the green foam sheet.
2. With the 3rd colored foam sheet, use a hole punch and punch holes approximately 1 inch apart down the length of both short edges of the foam sheet. With the string, weave together the short edges of the foam sheet through the holes to form a tube. Punch 2 holes; one on either side of the top of the tube and attach a ribbon to hang up the windsock.
3. Glue on the foam flowers and green foam leaves.
4. Punch holes along the bottom edge of the tube and tie on colored ribbons through the holes.
