What you will need: Bright colors of card stock, New Years confetti, glue or tape, glitter paints, and scissors.
What to do:
1. Roll your paper into a cone shape. Cut off the extras paper at the bottom of the cone shape to make it rounded. Use your first hat as a pattern to cut out more hats from different colors of paper.
2. Cut out pretty shapes to glue onto the top of the hats or use ribbon and other decorative objects.
3. Glue the hats together and then glue on sequins or use glitter paint to decorate them.

3.Chinese New Year Lantern

A fun paper lantern to decorate your home for Chinese New Year. Make many lanterns of different colors or decorations and hang them around your home.
What you'll need: Construction paper
Scissors
Tape
Stapler
Ruler
Pencil
Glue, glitter, sequins, if desired to decorate your lantern

How to make it:
1..Use your ruler to measure and cut one inch off the short end of your paper. Set aside to use as the handle.
2.Fold your paper in half lengthwise.
3.Draw a line one inch from the end of the long edge of the paper opposite the folded edge. This will be the line where you stop cutting.
4.Measure and mark lines one inch apart starting at the folded edge and moving towards the "stop cutting" line.
5.Cut on the marked lines up to the "stop cutting" line.
6.Unfold the paper.
7.Re-crease the paper in the opposite direction. This will hide any pencil marks.
8.Match the long edges together on the lantern and use tape to hold it in place.
9.Staple the handle to the top of the lantern. Make as many lanterns as you wish and display them around your home.
10.If you wish, add glue, glitter, sequins or other things to decorate your lanterns.

Tips:
Have Fun with Kids Crafts!
Crafting with your kids is a really special time for both of you. You get to pass on a new skill or share with them something that you love to do and they get to make things they enjoy and pass on the love of crafting to the next generation.
The best advice for crafting with kids is to try to remember how much fun you had as a kid raiding your mother’s craft area. You got messy and did things you probably weren’t supposed to do and had a whole lot of fun.
Bring that attitude of play to your craft time with your kids and you will all have a great time and make some wonderful things (as well as wonderful memories).

Quote:
”Nothing you do for children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted."
Garrison Keillor
